In this class we will start with a complete kit for the rowing version of the popular 12-foot Echo Bay Dory Skiff. With the wood, screws, and glue on hand, we'll start building right away Monday morning. We build the boat from precut parts over the course of the week: parts making, hull building, making the gunwales, installing seats and finishing with instruction on how to prep and paint your boat, or how to get it ready to sail if you wish to make a sailing version.

For the EBDS, we can prepare a sailing package for you in advance and, if there is time, get started on the sailing components during class. We may be able to help you get the daggerboard trunk installed by the end of the week. If you do want to build the trunk into the boat, please be prepared to put in a little extra effort during the class. We can also do a full day on Saturday for those who want to ensure the trunk gets installed.

This is a great class for people who want to build their first boat in an exciting, educational setting and with the guidance of the designer-builder. You will be ready to go home loaded with great memories and a boat ready to sand and paint. Don't worry, we will send you home with everything you need to paint and fit out your skiff.

Work begins Monday and ends Friday late in the day We'll start at 8:30 am daily and try to end by 5:30pm latest. For those building a sailing version, we can discuss getting in a little extra time on your boat but plan on doing a class extension if you want a sailing version. We will have long days but we’ll get a lot done and you will leave tired but happy!

Please contact Clint to discuss the sailing rig options or visit the Echo Bay webpage.

My father, sister, and I really enjoyed building an Echo Bay Dory Skiff in a three day workshop with Clint. It was a fun family project, and Clint was very helpful and knowledgeable. The boat is so beautiful, it has been a pleasure to work on finishing her!
