Some boats offer fancy version where you can get Sapele plywood incorporated into the kit for a yacht-finish, if desired.

Most kits come with breasthook and knees precut out of plywood but one option is to get them precut from hardwood (if you prefer that).

For some hull timber kits, there are often options for a select mahogany (hardwood) seat instead of the standard softwood seat typically offered.

For spar timber kits, the small boats up to 12-14’ often ship with a solid, Spruce mast, but a Birdsmouth mast is optional for below 14’.

The most common option is a choice between horn-style oarlocks and oval-style oarlocks.

Additional rowing stations can be added and there are often hardware upgrades available.
